Black Denim Rage, South Florida’s newest and youngest Speed/Heavy and Thrash Metal
band, was formed in September of 2019 with the intent to revive the old school “Street Metal”
scene in the States. Fueled by pure aggression, Black Denim Rage combines many aspects of
the 80’s metal that we have come to know and love, but many of the new generations have
forgotten, or have never heard before. We take the stage and leave everyone in shock with our
throwback “Denim and Leather” attire and precise playing.
Lead singer Kevin James Balcazar knows what it takes to channel his passion and creativity
into Black Denim Rage. Stemming from his roots in the South American Metal scene (and his
time serving in the United States Army), his stage name quickly became Speed Veteran. He
uses his past experiences as fuel for his melodies and lyrical content.
Lead Guitarist Matthew “Thrashing” Sanders, born and raised in South Florida, is heavily
influenced by Traditional Heavy Metal. His melodic song writing, combined with intelligent and
thought provoking lyrics, blends very well with Speed Veteran’s more raw and rabid style.
Long time drummer Shazam Humphrey has been Matthew’s right hand man ever since
childhood. Already having that close brotherly bond, he has made a perfect fit for the band.
Being a music major and performing with his marching band in high school, Shazam brings the
more in-depth music theory needed to propel Black Denim Rage to new heights.
Bass player Tom Hernandez has made quite a name for himself in the South American music
scene before moving to South Florida. Using his already established on-stage and recording
experience gained in the Dominican Republic, Tom brings incredible talent to the band and is a
force to be reckoned with.
While the year 2020 was the year of preparation, 2021 is the year of action. With a demo out
and a full length album on the way, Black Denim Rage will revive metal in the States, and will
take over the world of Metal, starting with the Dominican Republic in December 2021
